What to do if a client disputes your work
The step-by-step dispute process, how ops mediates, and how to document your work so you're protected.
Disputes are rare — and survivable
Most disputes come down to documentation, not workmanship. If you document your work well, the dispute process almost always resolves in favor of the tasker who did the job right.
Step 1: A client raises a dispute
Clients have 48 hours after completion to raise a dispute, with a reason and optional evidence photos. The payout is held while ops reviews — it is not lost. This is a pause, not a penalty.
Step 2: Ops mediates
Ops reviews both sides: the client's stated reason and evidence, and your completion proof, notes, and location trail. Clear, timestamped before/after photos and detailed completion notes are your strongest defense.
Step 3: Resolution
Ops can resolve a dispute as a release (you're paid), a rework (you return to finish the issue), or a refund (rare, and reserved for genuinely incomplete or substandard work). Each outcome is documented.
How to protect yourself
Always capture before/after photos, write specific completion notes, log materials with receipts, and stay on site until the work is verifiably done. Good documentation isn't bureaucracy — it's how you guarantee you get paid.
